The West Exe Electives Programme
The Electives programme is an important part of our enrichment curriculum which supports the development of the student attributes outside our academic curriculum. We have a huge range of exciting courses that enables students to develop new skills and engage in shared experiences.
Our Electives programme takes place each Wednesday afternoon, 13:35- 15:05, as part of our curriculum. Students are able to select courses they are interested in, and over the course of the programme, they will have opportunities to learn and experience different skills and knowledge which will help them both in their career/employment journey but also as part of our community.
Each elective programme runs for 12 weeks (one cycle) and students in years 7 - 10 select options from the three different areas and remain on the programme for the full 12 weeks:
- Physical/Active
- Skill development
- Community/Volunteering
Students select from all three areas, so they gain a balance of skills and experience.
Students are able to make their choices at the start of term, supported by their tutors in an induction session. Students can use the Electives booklet which gives details of all the programmes offered and expectations of the courses, to make an informed choice selection.
The booklet below gives examples of courses that we have on offer. As we grow with our partners across the community, we look forward to increasing these choices.
