At West Exe, we are excited to announce two new posts designed specifically to support a growing and highly successful learning support team.
We are rightly proud of our pupil results at West Exe at the end of Year 11. However, we recognise that this journey to eventual success is not always straight forward, and for some students, the barriers to their learning are far greater than for others. As part of our learning support team, you would be responsible for helping these pupils to overcome these barriers to learning, predominantly in a classroom environment. Your work would act to complement the high quality teaching our students receive, supporting them to accelerate the development of key functional skills as well as the confidence to become curious in their learning and ambitious in their aspirations.
A vital part of this role would be to work alongside class teachers and Heads of Year to develop the holistic elements of our West Exe Offer. Therefore, this role would not only suit those looking to primarily work in a support setting, but also those who may be interested in teaching as a future career.
A good level of education is essential for this role, with the postholder having achieved at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualifications. You should be capable of developing excellent relationships with students and therefore a proven record of successfully working with young people is essential.
West Exe is part of the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust. The Trust is a values-driven, rapidly growing 2 – 16 Trust with a relentless focus on transforming lives through learning by delivery outstanding outcomes for every pupil, regardless of background. With a reputation for highly successful school improvement in very challenging circumstances, the Trust is passionate about driving up standards and raising the aspirations of all our pupils. We are committed to providing the necessary CPD for colleagues to excel in their roles.
Finally, we believe in being welcoming to all, students and practitioners alike and always value the opportunity to discuss the school with others.
